Inscribed in the last sermon of the prophet Muhammad is the concept of equality of all races.

The prophet mentioned in his last sermon, the Arabs are not superior to non Arabs and the non Arabs are not superior to Arabs

If we apply this in the Malaysian context, the Malays are not superior to the Chinese and similarly the Chinese are not superior to the Malays.

In Islam, the true measure of superiority is in the individual’s goodness of character and their commitment to truth and justice.

Equality in Islam is unlike what is preached by the socialists.

We do not unfairly take the wealth and rights of others to spread them among everyone “equally”.

We believe those who work hard deserve the fruits of their labor and to not have their wealth taken in the name of equality and given to others who are undeserving or prefer to slack off and play video games.

However, Islam does not tell us to forsake the needs of the less fortunate.

Zakat (in simpler term, donation) is made obligatory for us who chose to follow the way of Islam.

For the non Muslims on the other hand, in exchange for the security and protection provided by the Muslim army (i.e. Angkatan Tentera Di Raja Malaysia) they are required to pay Jizya (a form of tax) which can then be redistributed to the needy of their respective communities.

A true Islamic State is one that puts great emphasis on the welfare of others under their leadership regardless of the race and religion.

Looking back at the wisdom of our forefathers who formed the federal constitution, I believe this is what Malaysia has always aspired to be.
